CONFIG MY RIG / LC250 FIELD NOTES

LC250 suspension: match springs to constant load

Front and rear load choices describe additional equipment, not total axle weight or a higher payload rating.

Config My Rig editorial · AI-assisted planning · Updated 2026-10-29

Inventory the weight that stays aboard

List the bumper, winch, skid plates, drawers, battery, rack, tent and other permanent equipment you expect to retain. Record product weight, required mounting equipment and factory parts removed. A shipping weight is not an installed weight. A missing weight remains a gap; do not silently count it as zero when choosing a spring.

Plan each axle separately

Front and rear springs can have different load options. A heavier front bumper can change the front requirement without calling for the same change at the rear. Drawers and rear carriers create a different load case. Equipment position matters: an item behind the rear axle can have a different axle effect from the same mass inside the wheelbase. Use the configurator to organize known inputs, then confirm the loaded vehicle on scales.

Read the manufacturer’s actual band

A range, a minimum additional load, and a nominal load designation mean different things. Some documented ranges overlap; some leave gaps. A spring labeled for a nominal 440 lb load should not automatically be read as “up to 440 lb.” If your load lies outside the documented options, ask the supplier for a matched recommendation rather than rounding into a convenient setting. A heavier spring is not automatically a better ride on an unladen daily driver.

Choose the complete installation scope

Some suspension listings include rear springs and upper control arms; others are shock packages with those items additional. Check the packing list, target lift at the actual load, alignment range, hose travel, axle centering, correction hardware and any required calibration. Published coilover-only hours do not establish complete-system installation time. Spring changes do not increase Toyota’s payload, axle or towing ratings.

Use this guidance with product evidence

These are planning explanations, not a Toyota service manual or approval of a particular combination. Product pages link the manufacturer/supplier offers and any verified installation resources, with their exact, component or family scope. Confirm your year, grade, VIN and current instructions with a qualified installer.
